The Learning Access Institute, is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization, focused on helping communities expand access to learning opportunities. We develop new technologies, to enhance access to information and learning opportunities and apply them to the needs of the disenfranchised and the underserved in the United States and throughout the world.
What we do
We at the Learning Access Institute have two core focusses:
- We help small libraries with their technology challenges, through automation and public access computing needs.
- We provide opportunities for students for K-12 students to experience technology first hand and to expose them to the beauties of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
Our Library Focus
Foremost we are deeply interested in libraries, and then particularly those which may never have automated, or not kept their systems up-to-date and the effects this has on the ability for you to serve your community.
We understand that for many smaller libraries, staff is overcommitted, relying much on volunteers and struggling to make budgets work on an annual basis. This is why our tools are optimized to maximize your libraries ability to use volunteers to get your automation tasks accomplished. From initial implementation to day-to-day activities.
